Henri Mounier is a historic Cognac company founded in 1858, when former merchant-navy captain Henri Mounier joined his father-in-law Jean Salmon, a cellar master, and partner Eugène Bellet to create Mounier et Compagnie. The firm developed from a regional wine-and-spirit trading business into a dedicated Cognac house and was an early participant in the shift toward bottled branded Cognac in the nineteenth century. Today the company operates from the Cognac area with production and ageing facilities around Gensac-la-Pallue and manages a portfolio that has included Henri Mounier and other established Cognac labels. Its history is therefore less that of a single vineyard estate than of a professional blending, maturation and brand-building house, drawing on cellar-master expertise and long commercial links to international markets. The modern company combines this historical négociant role with contemporary sourcing, ageing, quality-control and export capabilities.
